On Forgiveness

Got the following statements from my NIV “True Images” Bible:

  • Sometimes, we hold others in a standard of perfection—especially someone close to us who’s hurt us deeply. Yet all human beings fall short of this standard.
  • Forgiving someone doesn’t make what they did alright; it makes you alright. It releases you from unforgiveness and bitterness.
  • Forgiveness is a command, not an option.
  • Forgiveness is a choice. You might not feel like forgiving someone; you have to choose to forgive.
  • Forgiveness is a process. You may have to forgive that person over and over. Sometimes even after we’ve forgiven someone, new feelings of hurt or resentment come up, and we have to forgive the person all over again.

Something to ponder on :D

Isaiah 41:8-10

“But you, O Israel, my servant,
Jacob, whom I have chosen,
you descendants of Abraham my friend,
I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
S
o do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
