Walking on Water

As the storm rages You call me out of the boat and
we walk together,
You and I.
I’ll walk to You first
and when I’m near You’ll
hold my hand and
the journey to You seems
long and arduous
but a mere few meters away
but I’m standing here
walking on water
I can’t believe it but it’s really happening!
You smile and hold your hand out
and there’s lightning behind You
but there’s this
really
peaceful look
on your face,
beckoning me without words,
“Come, my daughter,
be not afraid,
for I am here.”
and I walk
and it’s exhilarating
I feel like I’m floating
but I’m not,
it’s You,
it’s all You,
doing all the work,
making me seem weightless
and unburdened.
